This guide explains how to create a campaign message, choose the right audience, send a preview to yourself, and track delivery status.
Step 1: Open Campaigns
- Log in to your Healthy Together admin portal
- On the left-side menu, select Campaigns
- In the top-right corner, click Create
Step 2: Fill Out the Three Required Message Fields
When creating a message, you’ll complete three fields:
- Message Name (for your internal reference)
- Audience (who will receive the message)
- Message Text (the SMS content)
Step 3: Choose Who Will Receive the Message
Default audience: All Primary Contacts
By default, the audience is set to All Primary Contacts. This includes:
- All households and farms in your system
- Only those who have agreed to receive SMS
To target a specific group: Create a New List
If you want to message a specific group (for example, farmers in one county), you’ll use filters:
- In the audience section, select Create New List
- Choose a base audience
- You’ll see options like WIC participants and farmers
- For a farmer-only message, select Farmers
- After selecting the base audience, look for Workspace Filterable Fields
- Open the dropdown and choose one or more filters
- Click Add Filter
- Use the dropdown options to narrow your audience (example: county)
Tip: Spend a minute exploring what’s available in the filters—there may be helpful options beyond what you expected.
Step 4: Write Your Message Text
Now craft the message you want to send. Campaign messages can be used for things like:
- Event reminders
- Schedule or location changes
- Program updates
- Reminders to spend remaining benefits before they expire
Tips for writing a good campaign message:
- Keep it clear and specific
- Include the key “what,” “when,” and “what to do next”
- Avoid jargon—write the way you’d explain it in person
Step 5: Preview by Sending a Test to Yourself
Before sending to your full audience, you can preview the message formatting and delivery by sending a test message to yourself. This helps confirm:
- The wording looks right on a phone
- The message length is reasonable
- The call-to-action is clear
Step 6: Name and Send the Campaign
- Confirm the Message Name is something you’ll recognize later (example: “FMNP County Reminder – Feb 2026”)
- Double-check the audience filter (who you’re messaging)
- Click Send
After you press send, the message should be delivered to your selected audience within about 10 minutes.
Step 7: Review Campaign Status After Sending
After sending, you can view results including:
- The status of the message
- How many people were included in your filter (your audience size)
- How many messages the networks were able to deliver successfully
This is useful for confirming reach and spotting delivery issues.
